We've had three days of in a row of snow now. Although I am from Northern California and used to visit Tahoe often, I've never lived in a city where it snowed before. We had a couple days of snow in December, but I was not expecting this little flurry late in February. I've never been so captivated by snowflakes before. Perhaps it is because we live on the 15th floor and they seem to swirl around around us. Or because I spent a better part of the weekend (not) typing and staring out the window. Either way, I found real beauty watching the patterns of the falling flakes shift and them looking like fluffy feathers being dumped from a pillow.
I'd been giving my ice cream maker the cold shoulder during these chilly months, but decided to bust it out for a special recipe. Just for fun, I made myself and the husband some Coke Floats. I suppose they were cola floats, using the fancy soda from Whole Foods. And instead of vanilla ice cream, I traded up for creamy almond. So no matter what weather you've got going outside your window, enjoy these floats indoors in your cozy sweats or out in the sun, if you've got ;)
Want to know another fun activity for snow days? Making a sticky mess! I enlisted my husband Brett to help capture the fun. Since I've been working on my photography, I've enjoyed challenging myself in different way. I've tried ice cream and other frozen treats on their own, but I took it to a different level for this one. I wanted to capture motion. While Brett let loose the ice cream, I stood by to catch the fizzy soda in action. And although it was a bit of a mess to clean up, it was fun to overflow the foam a bit.
