Last Christmas, I made cream puffs to bring over to my in-laws' house. Coincidentally, this used to be a Huff tradition. My husband's grandmother used to do all of the holiday baking. Completely unknown to me, one of her favorite family treats to share were cream puffs. I never heard this story before, and I was excited to bring this tradition back to their family. With a recipe so simple and quick to whip up, I think we will be having cream puffs year after year from now on.
Previously, I made Kahlua and coffee cream puffs. They were rich and light at the same time. This year, I wanted to try something a bit different. I decided on Peppermint Cream Puffs. Crispy yet soft puffed pastry surrounding sweet cream, drizzled with peppermint ganache, and a shower of sprinkles. For this ultra easy version, I use whipped cream instead of pastry cream. It may not be completely traditional, but delicious nonetheless. These whip up fairly fast, so get ready to start celebrating with family instead of spending your time hunkered down in the kitchen. Enjoy!!
